Mode of Hope
Can we hope for something we do not care about?
Hope is to care deeply about an outcome or another person’s well-being. Without investment and concern, hope lacks the emotional weight to sustain itself. We hope because we care. Care is returning to something living, even after forgetting it, even after it has changed without you. Care is the act of beginning again without certainty of outcome, learning to stay with what is still becoming.
