Hope as Coping

Mode of Hope

Hope can be a way of coping with uncertainty—not by resolving it, but by making it possible to continue despite it. When events cannot be changed, meaning can still be made. The act of interpretation offers a way of living with uncertainty rather than resolving it.

“Do you realize the sun doesn't go down – It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning 'round” (The Flaming Lips - Do You Realize??)
