Resignation and the Refusal to Resign

by Sophie Hamann

Robotic Textile and Wood Installation

Exploring the contradiction at the heart of Hope means feeling the pull toward resignation and the simultaneous refusal to resign. Why do we persist in caring, creating, and hoping when we know that nothing lasts? Why do we breathe, knowing we will die? The answer lies in the negentropic act of resisting decay through sustained effort. Hope lies in the cognitive dissonance of realising that decay is inevitable, yet continuing to care, to dream, to live anyway.

The Robotic Textile installation invites you to inhabit this tension - to feel the pull towards surrender, and to experience what it means to remain within contradiction: not to give in, but to live with it.
